OLYMPIA COMES BACK HOME
The Magritte’s Olympia (1948), that was stolen in September 2009 (*) from the artist house museum in Jette (Brussels), has been returned after thieves couldn’t sell it on black market. The painting that depicts his wife Georgette was handed back in excellent conditions after, according Belgian press reports, a 75,000€ ransom was paid by the picture’s insurer.
I took this photo a few years ago, before the theft. I hope things get back to normal soon.
